Looking to partner with a programmer

posted by Jace

I have MANY projects that need to get done that are all blog related

Two of these projects need to be done ASAP and will be the FIRST ever of these type of sites

What I am looking for is a programmer that wants to partner with me on these projects, 50/50 split down the middle…these sites WILL be profitable…..they are all B2B projects

I thought about just hiring someone to code these outright, but I just don’t have the time to do this all myself and it would be just great to have a parter, in fact it would make it perfect….I handle front end, you handle backend

You NEED to be at LEAST a master at php/msql, having a familiarity with payment processing and ecommerce is a HUGE bonus, I want these sites to be fully automated

You must have PRISTINE references, preferably from major players in the biz

feel free to ask questions in the comments here or drop me a line jace at justjace dot com

This is the first time I have ever attempted something like this, so I hope to god it goes well, I would LOVE to find someone that thinks along the same lines as I do, and turn this into a long lasting partnership that makes myself and someone else major money….

I will be working just as hard as my partner, and I want them to chose me as much as I chose them…this is a long term thing, not something that i will get someone to code for me then split. I have a rock solid rep in the adult industry, and anyone that has worked with me knows I know my shit when it comes to blogs and rss. My ideas have not been done on this level before and will take off instantly

What do I bring to the table?
I am an adult industry veteran that has been in the adult industry since 2000, and in the internet side of the adult industry since 2001. I have been working exclusively with blogs and rss for approx. 2.5 years now. I have worked with almost every major program testing and perfecting rss feeds and blog promotions for affiliates. I have a rock solid reputation in the industry with no negative marks on my record.
The two main concepts I have ready are almost guaranteed to bring instant profit, one has been done on a VERY small level, but no where near the level that I am ready to bring it to. The second idea is a little more complicated and has been done for years successfully in the mainstream market but very rarely in the adult market. With the proper preparation it is guaranteed to sell right out of the gate.
The best thing about the first idea is that it would be a monthly recurring charge to use the service, so the income would be consistent and guaranteed.

Someone hacked my server

posted by Jace

Anyone running URLInn by PHPFarber needs to check their server, there is an exploit in the urlinn_includes/config.php file.

This is the script in question: http://www.phpfaber.com/i/products/urlinn/

I know quite a few people in the adult industry that run this script, so lock your shit down!

Thanks to www.nationalnet.com for noticing this while I was sleeping, they saw what was happening, squashed it and got everything running again!

It was a little over 24 hours ago that everything hit the fan around the blogosphere with Google’s Re-Ranking of hundreds of blogs. It’s been an interesting day since I first posted about it with a number of interesting experiences coming along with it including:

  • Calls from 3 journalists (one Australian and two US) wanting to get comments on the story
  • Emails and IM chats with numerous SEOs sharing their ‘theories’ and ‘inside gossip’ from the Googleplex

Ironically the whole controversy has also had two other results:

Firstly traffic was up today by around 40% - the story has caused a lot of people to check out the ‘de-ranked’ blogs

Secondly and very ironically the controversy has caused a lot (hundreds) of extra in bound links to ProBlogger (and I pressume many of the other penalized blogs and sites).

What we’re being penalized and/or made an example for I don’t really know (Google’s not great at explaining these sorts of things) but the net effect has been that many of the sites being ‘hit’ could well come out of this better off than they went in - with new readers and perhaps even a better search engine ranking in the long run.

I guess there’s a few lessons here:

  • Don’t Get Depressed Get Motivated - every person that I’ve ever met that makes a full time living from web publishing has a story to tell about periods where things didn’t go their way (or where they completely fell apart). Those that succeed find ways to push through these times, learn from them and come out stronger.
  • Leverage Leverage Leverage - yesterday when I saw my slumped page rank I had a few options before me. I could have ignored it, I could have gotten down and despondent and wallowed and done very little work as a result or I could have found a way to leverage it. I decided to write a post about it and to see what would happen. The result was that today was one of the most productive days that I’ve had for a long time.
  • Network - there are days when blogging feels very lonely. The reality is that you’re not alone in the challenges that you face as a blogger - not matter what the issue is, there’s someone else who has, is or will face the same thing. The key is to reach out, find these people, debrief with them, learn from them and work together on solutions.

I know I know - I’m one of those annoyingly optimistic people (it drives my wife nuts). I’m sorry, I can’t help it.

The problem is that it’s actually days like today that make or break bloggers. Not only is it days like today that many bloggers give up - it’s days where many miss great opportunities. Keep Punching!

When you’re searching for something online, is the search a means to an end, or an end in itself? Yahoo is betting that it’s the former. This article examines the changes the venerable search engine recently introduced.Tim Mayer’s recent post on Yahoo’s Search Blog explains the company’s new approach: “One thing we’ve learned since launching our own algorithmic search engine back in 2004 is that at the end of the day, people really don’t want to search; they want to get things done.” The changes in Yahoo’s search engine are designed to give “users the answers they’re looking for quickly and easily, and often in one search.”

Wired made a rather snarky comment about this apparent change in direction, saying that it’s not unusual for a business as beleaguered as Yahoo has been lately to “change the criteria for success to help manufacture the illusion of progress. In this case, Yang and company are trying to convince us that the ease of experience associated with its search is preferable when compared to Google’s battery of results which ultimately promote inaction.”
